Trunk of Magic Feathers

A Stereophonic slowdown
with the lights dimmed low
As Two candles glow
on the mantelpiece
Their flames shadow-dance across the brickwork
Reminds me of quiet nights with you
Patchouli on a wooden unicorn burner
The one we bought at the Renaissance faire that Summer
I couldn't find a talking dragon
You just laughed and said "I guess you'll be okay"
But I was more than just okay
We were so in love that day

A photographic memory
Like a trunk of magic feathers
I let your pictures float around my room
In orbit with a fairer moon from years ago
The one we sat below on a railroad track
We smoked an entire pack that night
And I can no longer chase my highs
with a menthol
the flavor makes me think of you
And I'm not okay
I bet that dragon had a lot to say
