Gravity Jar

An affirmation of gravity Let's go out and plant a tree they'll chop it down you'll see Ain't Life a tragedy Until it's eternal Raked over the coals again Tried to vacuum seal the wind Your mother lives on her knees Her tears - meant to be But I'll never let you down

Lament Of The Scarecrow

In a dreary morning soliloquy  talking to the black bird  perching beside me It's not misunderstood  Mister I just don't understand Is fate just a word  or can you tell me the plan You see I'm tethered and torn I've been weathered and worn Could I be more than me more than what you see only an effigy

The Orange Box

Open that Orange box The one with the toy lock and key Pieces of Polymer  Frayed at the seams A green turtle sandbox The smell of a hose pipe Do you know what I mean yellow house on the end of the street The one with the maple tree In the back yard Life was so perfect then So very perfect But the scars I couldn't see A tear in the fabric something wrong Something wrong with me

Trunk of Magic Feathers

A Stereophonic slowdown  with the lights dimmed low As Two candles glow on the mantelpiece Their flames shadow-dance across the brickwork Reminds me of quiet nights with you  Patchouli on a wooden unicorn burner The one we bought at the Renaissance faire that Summer I couldn't find a talking dragon You just laughed and said "I guess you'll be okay" But I was more than just okay We were so in love that day  A photographic memory Like a trunk of magic feathers I let your pictures float around my room In orbit with a fairer moon from years ago The one we sat below on a railroad track  We smoked an entire pack that night And I can no longer chase my highs with a menthol the flavor makes me think of you And I'm not okay I bet that dragon had a lot to say
